MSP Metallics Ltd to set up Integrated Steel Plant at Marakuta, Jharsuguda district in Orissa. The project involves setting up of Integrated Steel Plant (Sponge Iron (10,50,000 TPA); Pig Iron (10,60,000 TPA), Pellet Plant(6,00,000 TPA); Steel Melting Shop (10,50,000 TPA); Captive Power Plant (85 MW), Coal Washery (15,00,000 TPA) and Coke Oven Battery (6,00,000 TPA).
MSP Metallics and Power has restructured and altered the integrated Metallics project promoted by its arm, MSP Metallics, and has decided not to opt for low profit products and to reduce its dependency on high cost fuels like coal for its Jharsuguda project in Orissa.

The company is doubling the capacity of the iron ore pellet plant to 1.2 million tpa from the earlier planned 0.6 million tpa and that of iron ore sinter plant to 0.92 million tpa from 0.46 million tpa. Also, additional facilities like a seamless tube plant of 0.3 million tpa and TMT bar plant of 0.24 million tpa are in the works.
The promoter of the project, MSP Metallics, due to scarce availability and rising cost of iron ore and coal, was compelled to shift its focus to producing value-added special category Metallics products such as seamless tube and Metallics rods. As a strategic measure, capacities of sponge iron are reduced substantially, along with the coal washery, coke oven and captive power plant. In order to match the capacity of metallics, enhancement of pellet and sinter capacity is envisaged for the project.The total cost of the proposed restructured project is estimated at Rs 1,279 crore.
